Announce the Engagement

Choose the bridesmaids and groomsmen

Select your dress and schedule fitting
Choose the bridesmaids’ gowns with the help of maid of honor (Get sample
of material to coordinate shoes)
Develop record-keeping system for invitations, gifts and thank-you notes
3 - 6 Months Before the Wedding
Finalize the budget
Meet with clergy and discuss service, writing your own vows & premarital
counseling
Meet with organist to select music
Compile the guest list
Order invitations
Make Honeymoon reservations
Groom’s parents should make plans for rehearsal dinner
Choose wedding bands
Help both mothers select their dresses
Check with state agency regarding marriage licenses, blood tests
Meet with your doctor for medical exams and If immunizations are necessary
for the honeymoon, arrange for them
2 - 3 Months Before the Wedding
Address invitations
When wedding gown arrives, sit for black & white photo for wedding
announcement
Visit formalwear shop with groom to choose men’s attire
Purchase gifts for attendants
Plan the bridesmaids' luncheon
Select a hotel for out-of-town guests
Purchase wedding accessories, guest book, ring pillow, cake knife, toast
glasses
